Adoption policies
Thank you for your interest in one of our rescues.
Please read all of the following before filling out an application. We are located in Stokes County, NC. We are a very small organization and we do not have a shelter with operating hours. The following guidelines have been established in order to speed up the adoption process.
1. Fill out our adoption application. Please include all questions and comments at the end of the application. We only set up appointments to meet animals after we have received an application and it has been approved.
2. It is essential that we have a name and phone number of your current veterinarian. Please be sure to list all animals you own currently. In order to be considered for one of our rescues it is the policy of Spay Stokes that your dogs are spayed or neutered and current on their vaccinations and preventatives, rabies, heartworm, and parvo distemper and your cats are spayed or neutered and current on feline leukemia, feline aides test, rabies, and distemper.
3. Since we are a network of volunteers that are employed at full time jobs, it may take up to one week to process your application because we strive to provide our rescues with safe, secure, and loving homes for the rest of their lives.
Why choose adoption?
Adoptions prices are $95.00 for senior dogs (6+ years old). $125.00 for dogs under 6 years of age. This includes all current vaccinations, bordatella vaccination, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and on monthly preventative (if age appropriate), dewormed, microchipped (registration included) and Nexgard for fleas and ticks.
Most of our animals come from a high kill shelter or are strays and without us and you, would not have a chance. Thank you for making the choice to help save a life!

Adoptable Pets
For the most updated list of our current pets for adoption, please click on the Petfinder.com link below. It will direct you to our Petfinder page where you can see our list of pets. Please keep in mind that we are an all volunteer organization and that our shelter does not have operating hours. All of our volunteers work full time jobs outside of assisting with the rescue. We will be happy to schedule an appointment for you to visit with one of our adoptable pets once we have received a completed application. Our dogs are required to be primarily inside pets. No outside only homes will be considered.
